Dear Delegates, dear Chairs, dear Friends, dear Sponsors, dear Supporters,
on behalf of the whole Model United Nations Siegen Team, we are honored to welcome you to SiegMUN 2014! The conference will be held from 3rd - 6th of December and we are proud to celebrate our fifth anniversary with all of you.
Starting in 2010 with the very first MUN conference in Siegen, the project has become bigger and bigger. Students from all over Germany and around the world came to Siegen to discuss fundamental and current challenges the world faces in the 21st century.
We therefore are glad to follow this annual tradition and are looking forward to an inspiring, productive and companionate conference. MUN means building new friendships, working and discussing and also laughing together ? within a group of open minded people.
We may not be able to solve all global problems ? but SiegMUN 2014 will give you the chance to develop and discover possibilities with other honorable delegates from different countries and different cultures and help navigating real-world problems. You can dive into other country?s positions which are maybe contrary to your own. We are sure that taking part in this conference will broaden your mind: as individuals as well as part of the world community. And it will prepare you for challenges you will face in the future.
At our anniversary-conference we are proud to present you ? for the first time ? the special Historical Security Council which takes you back into April 1982.
The former Secretary-General of the United Nations, Kofi Annan, once said:
?More than ever before in human history, we share a common destiny. We can master it only if we face it together. And that, my friends, is why we have the United Nations.?
With these final words we are looking forward to see you all in December!
